Our Pies

We use all organic ingredients, with the exception of chocolate (which is Fair Trade Certified and locally made), pecans (supposedly they are spray free but we chose to buy them locally and not certified organic rather than from Texas certified organic), and salt. This includes all of our butter, eggs, cream and milk, flour, sugar, fruit, nuts, and everything else.

Allergens: We don’t use nuts unless it’s stated in a product’s title – Salty Honey Walnut contains nuts, SURPRISE! Still, we do make a lot of items that contain nuts, so if you are concerned about cross contamination, please call us to discuss. Unless specifically labeled to the contrary, most of our products do contain dairy, and wheat. Our fruit pies don’t generally contain eggs (with the exception of Sour Cream Apple Crumble), but ALL custard pies contain eggs.

Gluten Free/Dairy Free/Vegan: All you gluten-intolerant folk: We feel you. We can’t even imagine. How do you LIVE? So yeah, we’ve got some options for you, including Key Lime, Bittersweet Chocolate Pecan, and a range of other options on our regular menu, plus fruit pies for special orders! Check our home page for this week’s selections, and if you have ideas, send them our way. Recently, we’ve also rolled out a line of vegan fruit pies for special order!

Hidden Star Orchards  The Smit family’s ranch is just down the road from Babe Anna’s family homestead. Their five kids caused almost as much trouble at St. Mary’s High School as we did! Trouble-making aside, we are inspired by their work-ethic and commitment to their products, and we are proud to bake their blueberries and cherries, and apples into delicious pies.

Nana Mae’s Organics  Paul from Nana Mae’s is such a nice man! We heart him, and we are pretty obsessed with all of the crazy wonderful heirloom apples that are growing over at Nana Mae’s.

Frog Hollow  No surprise here, Farmer Al gets it DONE with some of the juciest, most flavorful fruit in the market.  We love Frog Hollow’s stone fruit in the summer, and their juicy pears in the fall and winter.

Guittard Chocolate –  This is a fifth generation San Francisco owned business! The chocolate is fair trade certified and Amy Guittard is our homegirl!  We primarily use their 72% Coucher du Soleil Chocolate, but are also big fans of their other lines for eating and baking at home!

Yerena Farms – We love Poli and Sylvia Yerena! Their strawberries are the best and are the only ones we use! You can find this hardworking couple at farmers markets around SF – The Ferry Building on Tuesdays and Saturdays, Alemany on Saturdays, The Heart of the City Farmers Market (Civic Center) on Wednesdays and the Mission Community Market on Thursdays.

Balakian Farms – We love Balakian’s stone fruit – plums, peaches, apricots and nectarines. You can find them at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market on Saturdays and at the Marin Civic Center market on Sundays.

DeVoto Gardens – Delicious apples and also beautiful flowers from Sebastopol!

Happy Quail  David is our main source for Rhubarb galore and sometimes peppers! He also wears amazing peppers shirts all the time so we have to give a shout out to his style! He’s at the Tuesday and Saturday markets at the Ferry Building.

Old Dog Ranch  Old Dog Ranch is both the home of our childhood friends, and the source of the most delicious walnuts you can find (their dad Roger is the farmer!) Our friend Mollie now has a walnut snack and nut butter company by the same name that you can also find at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market on Saturdays.

G.L. Alfieri – Pecans from Ripon, which is in our very own San Joaquin County (Alfieri also makes delicious nut brittle candy!) You can find them at the farmers market or at their stall inside the Ferry Building!
